Having a heated ice hut makes the whole experience fun, as well as warm and comfortable, and using the services of a local ice fishing guide will go a long way in helping you catch "the big one." Safety should always be your first concern when ice fishing. Never venture onto the ice on your own and always inform someone of where you are going and when you can be expected back.

Northridge Inn & Resort has over 1350 feet of shore line on Lake Bernard. Lake Bernard is a distinctive lake with an unusual claim to fame. The lake has been deemed the "world's largest fresh water lake without an island by Guinness World Records". Measuring approximately 7 km in length and 2.5 km in width, Lake Bernard is large in comparison to the majority of Ontario's thousands of lakes. The fact that there are no islands on Lake Bernard is what sets it apart from other large Ontario lakes. Another interesting characteristic of this lake is that it is not connected to any other lake. This is quite unusual for a lake of its size, especially when you consider the many Muskoka lakes to the south that interconnect. Some suggest that Lake Bernard is the result of an ancient meteor strike. One thing is for certain, Lake Bernard's reputation with area residents and North Muskoka visitors alike as a beautiful lake with crystal clear water and good fishing, far out weighs its status as a Guinness World Record holder.
A memorable fishing vacation is assured when you book your Ontario fishing getaway at Northridge Inn. Within a 30 minute drive from Northridge Inn and the town of Sundridge is an Almaguin area attraction that you have to see to believe. Just outside of Burkes Falls, local artist Peter Camani has transformed a derelict 300-acre farmhouse and property into an expansive outdoor art exhibit called Screaming Heads and Midlothian Castle. More than one hundred massive concrete sculptures, all over 20 feet in height and in the shape of howling heads, are scattered throughout the property. Midlothian Castle, the former farmhouse, has been adorned with sculptures, dragons, intricate gates, and like all castles, this one also has a prison. Over 25 years in the making, Screaming Heads and Midlothian Castle is a labour of love by the artist, and a project not yet completed. It has been featured on Canadian Television programs like Arthur Black's Weird Homes and on the CBC series On the Road Again. Admission to the grounds is free, but donations are accepted.
